Since she was "majeure" at the time of her 1843 marriage, it is presumed that Emilie was born about 1822. She is the daughter of Jean Baptiste Lalonde and Catherine Montpetit.[1]
On 4 July 1843, Emilie married Joseph McKie Soulanges, Bas-Canada. The Saint Polycarpe parish register states that the marriage was between "Le Sieur Joseph Maqui fils majeur de Sieur Joseph Maqui et de Dame Adelaïde Biron d'une part et demoiselle Emilie Lalonde fille majeure de Sieur Jean Baptiste Lalonde et de Dame Catherine Montpetit dit [Potvin?] . . . . en présence de Joseph Maqui père de l'époux, Jean Baptiste Lalonde père de l'épouse, Antoine Leblanc, Pierre Maqui, Joseph [Veronau?], Olivier Brai, Jean Marqui, Baptiste Lalonde."[1]
At some point, the couple emigrated to Ontario. Emilie died 9 February 1894 in Massey, Ontario and was buried in the parish of Immaculate Conception: "Emélie Lalonde épouse Joseph McKee agée de 78 ans. Les témoins furent Alex Faubert et Pierre Lalonde."[2] She is buried in the Old River Road Cemetery.[3]
