Jean-Baptiste was born on October 12, 1793, in Sainte-Geneviève-de-Pierrefonds, just outside of Montrèal. His parents were Paulin Lalonde and Marie Ranger.
On July 16, 1821, Jean-Baptiste married Marie Beriault, daughter of Hyacinthe Beriault and Marie-Geneviève Schmidt. The wedding took place in Les Cèdres, Quebec. The couple established a home in Vaudreuil, Quebec, but moved to Prescott, ON sometime after the 1851 census.[1]. Together, they raised six children - four boys and 2 girls.
Jean-Baptiste passed away on July 6, 1887, in Prescott, ON.[2]. He was buried in Curran, ON.[3]
