John was born of the 4th and baptised on the 15 October 1718. His baptismal records show that his father was also called John and his mother Margaret. other than that we know nothing certain. A John Lamb was born and baptised at Ombersley, just down the road from Ribbesford in 1693 but as yet no link can be found.
