Thomas Lamb was the son of Mathew and Maria Lamb, a mason from Little Newcastle. Thomas was born in 1849 at Llanychaer North Pembrokeshire. We first find Thomas on the 1851 census, aged 2 years old living at the family home at Cross Inn Llanychaer. He is next found on the 1861 census at Penwann Ffordd (possibly Pennffordd) Llanychaer. He is now aged 11, and is still living at the family home, and will do so up until he married in 1883. He can be found on the 1871 and 1881 census at Pennffordd.
He married Mary Williams from Nevern in 1883 at Llanychaer parish church. Thomas and Mary made a living Farming, and can be found on the 1891 and 1901 census farming at Dolwen Fishguard. On the 1891 census are three of their children, John (b 1884) Maria (b 1885) and James (b 1889), all three born in Fishguard the three children are then found on the 1901 census for Dolwen. The couple are still at Dolwen in 1911, so are their three children, and their niece Maria John 37 = 1874 Aberdare Glamorganshire. As yet I have not traced Maria John’s parents, and the matter needs more research. I think the three children married, and one of them inherited the farm. But again this needs to be researched more thoroughly before I can confirm this theory.
