Biography

only son of William Lamb, England's prime minister

George was named after his father's brother George (1784-1834). He lived with his mother Caroline and her father-in-law, Peniston Lamb, 1st Viscount Melbourne (1745-1828), findagrave# 195151406; but both Caroline and Peniston died in 1828. The younger George was epileptic and mentally challenged. A hopeless invalid, he died unmarried on 27 November 1836, aged 29. His devoted mother, Caroline, had died at Melbourne House, Whitehall, in the presence of her husband, who had hastened over from Ireland, on 26 January 1828, aged 42, and was buried at Hatfield.
