- He married firstly Mary Isabel Hamilton on the 2nd of October 1865 at Liverpool, Lancashire, England. Mary Isabel died in 1879 at Liverpool.
- He married secondly Sophia Jones on the 27th of October 1880 in St. Mary's Parish Church, Battersea, Surrey, England
- He died aged 73 on the 24th of March 1909 at Kingsclere, St. John's Road, Eastbourne, Sussex and was buried at Toxteth, Liverpool, England.
