Biography

John was born about 1730.

John Lambert married Katherine Osborne in 1757 in Poynings. ^[1]

“His son John married Elizabeth, daughter of Thomas Wood, of Coulsdon Court, and dying 1721, was succeeded by his son Jeffrey, who married Sarah, daughter of William Lee, of Wootton, co Surrey, Esq. He died in 1752, leaving a son John, who married Catherine, daughter of William Osborne, of Poynings, co. Sussex, Esq., and was father to William Lambert, Esq., J.P., who was born 1761, and succeeded to the family estates on the death of his elder brother John. He married first, Jane, daughter of Robert Legrand, of Guilton, in Kent, Esq. This lady was a celebrated beauty, and it is recorded of her that no party in the county of Kent was considered complete which had not toasted her. She died in 1791, at the early age of 34, leaving two sons and one daughter. Mr. Lambert married, secondly, Miss Nutty Hutchinson, by whom he had no issue. He sold ‘Lambert’s Oaks,’ a portion of the Woodmansterne estate, to the Earl of Derby, and died in 1838.”
