Sometime in the summer of 1866 Joseph, his parents and four siblings migrated from Graves County, Kentucky to Texas. They traveled by wagon train with at least six other families.
They first lived in the settlement of Sulfur in Hopkins County. After two years they moved to Hunt County and made their home here. Joseph grew up to be a successful Farmer in the Tidwell community.
Joseph married Ella Williams on January 17, 1886 in Hunt County, Texas.[1]
