Elizabeth Lamplugh was born about 1593 in Ruston Parva, in the East Yorkshire Wolds, England: also known at times as Little Riston: the daughter of Thomas Lamplugh and his wife Jane Fairfax.
When Thomas Lamplugh became archbishop of York 1688 the genealogists brushed up their family trees for any mention of the Lamplughs.
This certainly included the manuscript in the College of Heralds, [1] which had already been improved once by the Norroy King of Arms. Elizabeth remained a vague figure, but as the aunt of Thomas Archbishop of York we can be confident that she existed, of her parentage and that she never married,
