Biography
Jarvis was born in 1855. He is the son of Jarvis Lamson. He attended Dummer Academy in South Byfield, Massachusetts graduating in 1872. He entered the hatter trade at age 17. In 1878 he went into business with his partner Orrin C. Hubbard. Lamson and Hubbard thrived with offices on Boston and New York until a 1921 crash in the price of furs put the company in a weak position. It's holdings were bought out by legendary rival Hudson Bay Company that exists to this day.
