The following excerpts were taken from ARTICLE 568, PAGE 237: .... 568 ARTHUR SCOTT LANCASTER (13400) Arthur Scott Lancaster (13400) was born October 13, 1865 in a log house near Leets Tanyard in Walker County, Georgia. He was the son of Lawrence Lanson Lancaster (20851) ... and his second wife, Rachel Emaline Burton (20850) .... His sixth great-grandfather, Robert Lancaster (), came to the Isle of Wright, Virginia from England, before 1670. Arthur (13400) had a sister (Bulia Minerva) (20839) and a brother, Samuel Asberry Brice Lancaster (20838). He also had five half brothers and sisters: John Calvin (20858), James (20859), William (20860), Martha (20861), and Mary (20862). After the death of his father in 1877, the Lancaster family moved to Chattooga County, Georgia. At the age of eleven, Arthur (13400) became the "man of the house", supporting the family by working on the Hawkins farm in Dirt Town. It was here that he met, courted, and married Mary Jane Hawkins (20863), ..., on October 14, 1887 in Floyd County, Georgia. .... Arthur (13400) moved his family by wagon to Parker County, Texas in 1894 and lived there only two years before returning to Dirt Town. In 1906, he moved his family back to Texas ... this time to Knox County where his sister (Bulia Minerva Moore) (20839) was living. While in Texas, the family lived in a one-room house, with a dirt floor and no ceiling, only rafters. In 1911, Grandpa (13400) moved his family back to Trion, Georgia where he remained for the rest of his life. He was always a sharecropper except for the time he worked at the grist mill located behind the Trion Department Store. ... Arthur Scott Lancaster (13400) died May 7, 1945. Both were buried in the Trion Cemetery. They were parents of ten children.
