Biography

Marie Francoise Lanclos, daughter of Alexandre Gerasin Lanclos and Marie Uranie Neraut, was born on 3 October 1854 in Grand Coteau, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.[1] Her mother died just two weeks after her birth, and her father remarried in 1857.[2] By 1860, she was living in the household of Justine Rivet, her future husband's aunt, in Grand Coteau.[3]

She and Joseph Numa Rivette, son of Joseph Rivette and Emelia Cormier, applied for a marriage license on 30 December 1870 in Opelousas, St. Landry Parish.[4][5] They were married at St. Francis Regis Catholic Church in Arnaudville on 18 January 1871.[6] They had the following children:

  1. Joseph Homere Rivette, b. 13 Jan 1872
  2. Louis Gabriel Rivette, b. 1 Feb 1874
  3. Joseph Antoine Rivette (twin), b. 20 Sep 1876
  4. Denis Gerasime Rivette (twin), b. 20 Sep 1876, d. 8 Dec 1876
  5. Theophile Rivette, b. 1 Sep 1880
  6. Marie Osellia Rivette, b. 18 May 1884

Numa and Francoise appeared on the 1880 census, living in St. Landry Parish with three children.[7]

She died on 19 January 1885 at Arnaudville, St. Landry Parish, at the age of 30 years.[8] Her succession was filed at the Opelousas courthouse on 28 October 1886.[9]
