Biography

Christian Landes is one of twins.

Christian, twin to Elizabeth Ann Landes, was born in 1828. He was the son of Samuel Landes and Elizabeth Sheets.

Christian and his twin sister Elizabeth Ann "Betsey" Landes were born September 19, 1828 in Augusta County, Virginia. They were the youngest children of Samuel Landes and Elizabeth Sheets, Samuel's first wife that he had married May 28, 1816 in Augusta County, Virginia. The mother Elizabeth passed away within four months. The twins were welcomed by six older siblings. By April of the following year they also had a stepmother. They were blessed with eight more half-siblings.

On December 20, 1852 Christian Landes married Nancy Rebecca Craun in Augusta County, Virginia. They were the parents of William Harvey, Augusta Virginia, Charles Marion, Sarah Elizabeth, Clara Belle, and James Leroy.

  • I removed the middle initial S after I realized it came only from the Mennonite record that had been composed later, that has Samuel's initial for all of the children for clarification, because of the repetition of names in this group.
