  • When Lionel was 17 years old, the half-ton truck he was riding in was hit by a train near Memramcook on 6 September 1931. There were 12 persons from Dupuis Corner aboard this small truck and 6 of them died at the scene of the accident. Lionel and 2 other men saved their lives by jumping from the back of the truck at the last minute. The 3 persons who were in the truck cab were injured but they survived.
