Birth

Thomas Lane was born, say, 1566. He was probably born in the family estate in Staffordshire, England.

There is no birth record for son Thomas Lane. However John Lane, the eldest son and heir, was born in 1564 according to the post-mortem inquisition into his father's estate.^[1] Thomas would therefore have been born after 1564. He is listed as the second son by Burke (1835) and Wrottesley (1910), although no basis is listed, so a birth year of about 1566 is plausible estimate.

Parents

Thomas Lane was the son of Francis Lane and Catherine, daughter of Richard Trentham, according to Burke (1835),^[2] or the son of Thomas Lane and Katharine, daughter of Richard Trentham according to Wrottesley (1910).^[1] (Note that his father appears to be labelled as Francis or Thomas in different records, see discussion in that profile.)

There are no further known records for this son.

Note that some unsourced family trees suggest a birth year of around 1540 for this person, but no sources are provided and this would be inconsistent with father's birth in 1531.
