PPS Did you discover that the tags on your profile are clickable links to a page of other people who have that tag? You can add more, up to 20 total.
Because of the way the messaging service works at WikiTree, we don't get notified about comments you put on your own profile. That's why we recommend posting on the profiles of the people who have offered to help.
Regarding your question about having to add the profile manually, the answer is yes and no. You do have to use the add screen to create the profiles but the fields on the screen are filled in with your data. It works that way because it gives you a chance to make the profile perfect before moving on. There's not much worse than having to go back and work on a profile when you are ready to do new research.
One of our mentors created a tutorial for the GEDCOMpare process which offers some great tips.
