Orson Lane was born at Leeds, Maine, on 30 Jul 1826, the son of Alvin Lane and Lucy (Mitchell) Lane.[1]
Marriages
Orson Lane married Susan Boothby, probably at Leeds, Maine, where both their families were living, on 21 Mar 1852.[2]
Orson Lane and his deceased first wife's sister, Viora Boothby, both of Leeds, Maine published at Leeds their intention to marry on 12 Dec 1859, and they married there on 17 Dec 1859.[3]
Death
Orson Lane died at Leeds, Maine, on 16 Apr 1882 and was buried at the Lothrop Cemetery in Leeds.[4] A gravestone at the Fish Cemetery in Leeds says that he died on that date at the age of 55.[5]
Research Note
A record in the J. Gary Nichols Cemetery Collection says that Orson Lane died on 17 Oct 1876 and is buried at the Riverside Cemetery in Lewiston, Maine.[6] This is obviously incorrect; it conflicts with his death record at Leeds[4] and the photo of his gravestone,[5] and he was alive in 1880, when the census recorded him living at Leeds at the age of 53 with his wife Viora and two children.[7] A second FindAGrave memorial repeats and cites the incorrect information from the J. Gary Nichols record.[8]
