Family Lore As spelled out in Floyd Benjamin's Book, John Lane moved to Wilson County after selling his land in Halifax. This was stated by Fanny Lane-Rippy his granddaughter in 1935, in her 85th year. Her father was Thornton Lane, son of John.

Buncombe It seems as if the Mullins family moved to Buncombe County NC for a while. There was another John Lane in that county, not to be confused with our current subject. After Buncombe, David and family moved to Wilson county to be with the Lanes again.
