The biography for George Lane is empty. What can you add?
My name is George Lane and I have no middle name as did the 7 or 8 George Lane's. Our family supposedly arrived in Boston MA in 1742 with a charter from the King of England to enter into the import and export business in the Colony. The Lane's married into the Bigelow, Thomas, Ware, and Woodman families in New England.
I was born in Goffstown NH on June 18, 1940, only son of F. Woodman and Mary Derr Lane. I attended Montour Falls Grammar School in Montour Falls, NY (1946 -54); Northside High School in Corning, NY (1954 - 58); State University of NY at Alfred, NY (1958 - 62) also commissioned as 2nd Lt. in the US Army upon completion ROTC in 1958; post-graduate work at Clemson University at Clemson SC (1962 - 66). Served on active duty in the US Army in Southeast Asia from 1967 - 69, honorable discharge as Capt. in Jan 1969); employed by the Dept. of Army as a civilian electronics engineer from 1969 - 83), joined the Voice of America in Washington DC from 1983 - 1996); retired as GS-14 electronics engineer on May 31, 1996 with 30 years of Government Service. I am retired in Silver Spring, MD.
