Richard Lane was born about 1740, a son of Samuel Lane and Jane Corbin of Baltimore County, Maryland. Family tradition states that he and his brother Lambert Lane were born during his parents' six-year stay in England. Richard married Catherine Groom about 1773, based on the birth of their first child, and they had at least eight children. Richard's will is dated 10 Sep 1813 and was probated in Muskingum County, Ohio, in December 1813, so he must have died between those dates.

However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Richard:

Lane-5214 and Lane-2865 appear to represent the same person because: Mother appears to be straightened out now. Please merge. Thank you.
Lane-2865 and Lane-5214 do not represent the same person because: Two different Richard Lanes, one born Maryland and one born England. Need to separate these two profiles better.

There are presently three Richard Lane profiles listed with Mary Corbin as mother. There were probably two different Richard's - one born in England to a different mother and one born to Mary Corbin in Maryland where she lived.
