Research Notes

Some family trees list, without any good evidence, his parents as Samuel Lane (1700-1779) and Jane (Corbin) Lane (1716-1773). Samuel and Jane Lane lived in Maryland and Pennsylvania but never Virginia. There is no record linking them to a son named Thomas born 1740 in Virginia.

The middle name hasn't any source outside of "Geneanet Community Trees Index, which isn't a primary source.
