Ruth Lane was born on 27 December 1718 in Gloucester, Essex County, Massachusetts Bay Colony to James Lane and Judith Woodberry. The actual text, as transcribed from page 58, reads: "Ruth, the daughter of James Lane by Judith his wife born Dec 27th, 1718."[1][2]
As summarized in the Transcript of the First and Second Books of Births, Deaths and Marriages in the Town of Gloucester 1640-1728 copied by the order of the City Council of the City of Gloucester by John Babson, 1874 we find her parents were James Lane and Judith Woodberry. The original text reads:
"Lane, James and Judith Woodberry entered marriage April 16, 1715. Children[3]:
"William, born August 24, 1716
"Ruth, born December 27, 1718
"Josiah, born March 29, 1721
"Mary, born June 25, 1723
"John, born August 8, 1725
"James, born October 9, 1729"
Ruth Lane married Paul Morgan on 6 Apr 1738 in Gloucester, Essex County, Massachusetts.[4][5] Comments on the Morgan Family of New Hampshire summarize the family of this couple[6]:

“Ruth Morgan was born about 1739 in Gloucester, Massachusetts Bay Colony. She married Nehemiah Stanwood , Jr., son of Nehemiah Stanwood and Bethiah Elwell. He was born 26 June 1733 in Gloucester, Massachusetts Bay Colony, and died 1815.[7]
“Mary Morgan was born 8 May 1741 in Gloucester, Massachusetts Bay Colony.[8]
“Judith Morgan was born 29 April 1743 in Gloucester, Massachusetts Bay Colony. She married Nathan Norwood after 5 May 1789 in Gloucester, Massachusetts Bay Colony. [9]
“Paul Morgan was born August 1745 in Gloucester, Massachusetts Bay Colony. He married Anna Brown after 14 December 1774. She was born in of Ipswich, Massachusetts Bay Colony. [10]
“Henry Morgan was born before 30 July 1749 in Gloucester, Massachusetts Bay Colony. He married Lucy Row on 12 March 1772.[11]
“John Morgan was born before 3 May 1752 in Gloucester, MA, and died 1777 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He married Abigail Bray on 29 October 1772.[12]
“Johannah Morgan was born before 6 April 1755 in Gloucester, Massachusetts Bay Colony. She married Joseph Lane, son of Caleb Lane and Lydia Riggs, 26 February 1782. He was born before 30 November 1760 in Gloucester, Massachusetts Bay Colony.[13]
“William Morgan was born before 25 January 1761 in Gloucester, Massachusetts Bay Colony.” [14]
