1771 Birth in Charolotte County, Virginia, USA. [1]

1793-1805 David taxed in Pittsylvania from 1793-1805. According to The Fisher River's Sketches book, David spent time on his Uncle John's Peach Orchard in Pittsylvania - Uncle John Lane. This was probably on the Sandy River. Pittsylvania County, Virginia, USA.

1792 Marriage to Unknown woman. First 2 sons: James & William with her.

5 Apr 1793 James Lane (David's Father) had 100a surveyed on Naked Creek and Stewarts Creek, abutting John Hawk's line and Cornelius Keith's improvements. Surry County, North Carolina, USA. (Stewart Creek joins Ararat River at Mt. Airy, and Moore's Fork is a tributary of Stewart Creek)

3 Mar 1795 David's father James Lane enters 12 tracts of land, all 640a, all on either Double Creek or Hogan's Creek (Siloam area). No evidence that they were completed. Siloam, Surry, North Carolina, USA.

16 Jun 1795 Marriage to Molly Wilson. Pittsylvania, Virginia. [2] [3]

1805 The last tax entry for David Lane in Pittsylvania. Pittsylvania County, Virginia, USA. Also in 1805 a Meredith Lane is born. He may or may not be a son of Davey. It is doubtful.

18 Mar 1807 David's son (or father?) James Lane is a witness on a deed from Reuben Matthews to William Forrester, for land on south side of Yadkin River. Siloam, Surry, North Carolina, USA.

1810 David in census in Surry, North Carolina, United States. David Lane listed in the Siloam area, next door to William Whitacre, who owned land on Hogan's Creek. Also, near William Forrester. [4]

27 May 1814 DBO, pg 314. James McGraw sells 100a to David Lane for $100. Beginning at a pine on the north side of Moore's Fork adjoining his own land ... red oak ... spanish oak ... stake... to the beginning. Mt Airy, Surry County, North Carolina, USA.

1815 & 1816 Surry County Tax list, Capt. Underwood's District:

  • Lane, David 300a on Moore's Fork, valued at $150, 1 white poll

1817 David still on his 300a on Moore's Fork, adjoining William Snow, now valued at $165.

17 Jul 1821 DB R, pg 330: David Lane sells to William Tucker for $100, 400a, beginning on the south side of Moore's fork crossing the creek for complement, William Snow's corner, etc. By David 'X' Lane, Wits: John Seagrove, William Easley, John Taliafero. Mount Airy, Surry, North Carolina, USA.

1821 According to Fisher River Sketches, Davey Lane operated a tub-mill on Moore's Fork of Stewart's Creek, which would have been just northwest of Mt. Airy.

15 Nov 1823 David Lane Deed to Wm Tucker was proven by the oath of John Seagroves. Apparently David sold the land that he owned on Moore's Fork. Mt Airy, Surry County, North Carolina, USA.

I tried to merge the 2 David Lanes and it says I am not on the 'Trusted List' of Lane-7458 (which you are the profile manager). David Lane of Surry NC is not the son of Alexander Lane of Campbell County. You have a daughter connected to David that should be moved over to the other David also.
