The 2 David Laneys are first cousins 1. David Laney 1788-1857 who married Nancy Blakeney was son of Joseph Laney and Hanna LNU He is my direct line. 2 David Laney 1776-1855 who married Agnes Hargett was son of George Laney and Mary Flynn Welch

David Laney-177 has been determined to be, not the son of George, rather the son of Joseph, as census records place them in the same County and State during the same periods. Conversely, whereas George was located in North Carolina, Joseph and David, as well as John Blakeney (the father of David's wife) were all residing in Chesterfield County, South Carolina during said period. Given these placements, I believe that the more likely scenario is that Laney-703 is the son of George.

Laney-177 and Laney-703 do not represent the same person because: David Laney-177 has been corrected to show that he is the son of Joseph Laney-568 and David Laney-703 is the son of George Laney-216. These two David Laneys are cousins as their fathers are brothers.

Laney-177 and Laney-703 appear to represent the same person because: They apparently share the same father, although I have personally found no reference to a second wife in source material.
