My father's ancestor was a Dutch Dr. & 2 sons on their way to unknown destination, possibly Australia (or New Zealand). The Dr. & 1 son settled in South Africa. Original arrival date unknown but circa 1800's my great grandfather was friends with Cecil John Rhodes, who verbally bequeathed his cottage to my great grandfather, but as it wasn't in the written will it is not in the Lange family.
MARSHALL
UK relative. (Marshall was my maternal grandfather's sister's husband).
SIMPSON
Simpson-South Africa. My paternal grandmother married Lange with Dutch ancestry.
STEVENSON
Scotland-Stevenson. South African immigrant living in Orange Free State/Orange River Colony 1800's & 1900's. (My maternal grandmother's family).
STROUD
UK Stroud. London & Northamtonshire origins plus ancestor links to SPAIN-British subject/resident. (My maternal grandfather's family from England).

Hi Karen,

Thank you for self-certifying for the Pre-1700 badge! Participation in a Pre-1700 Project is strongly encouraged for those wishing to edit Pre-1700 profiles. Collaboration is essential because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants.

It looks like Dutch Roots Project would be a good fit with the tag you entered.

Do you have any questions? Let me know. I'm happy to help! :-)

Hi!

How are you? I'm Shirley, a WikiTree Mentor. Hope you're enjoying our site.

How To Use WikiTree is a good starting point, and the Help Index is an important place to find out how to do most tasks.

If you have pre-1700's ancestors to add please read our Pre-1700 profiles info. Do you have Royal Ancestors? Rather than create duplicate profiles for them, please contact the EuroAristo Project to discuss connecting your family line to their profiles.

And I'm here to help too, just ask!

Karen, you are now a member of WikiTree! Please help us build one Collaborative Global Family Tree, which means only one profile per person. It's important that no duplicates are created and profiles are properly sourced.

If you have pre-1700's ancestors to add please read our Pre-1700 profiles info.

To help you get started, view this introductory WikiTree video.

We also have Mentors who will be glad to answer questions.

Thanks for volunteering and welcome to the Tree!

Hi, I am researching my family ancestry. My father's family alledgedly springs from a Dutch doctor & 2 sons, who with one son decided to settle in South Africa, while the other son continued the journey, destination unknown. All I know is that I am related to the late New Zealand Prime Minister David Russell Lange. My mother's family are from England & Scotland. Her father is Stroud from London & her mother was Stevenson, the daughter of Master Builder John Stevenson of Scottish ancestry who I believe built Bloemfontein station in the then Orange River Colony, South Africa. I have very limited internet access via my mobile & data, subject to finances but intend to post as much as I can/have to benefit others researching their genealogy, eventually volunteering my time/efforts. I am keen to find out more about my maternal grandfather who served in both wars. I know he was mentioned in despatches & saw a photo of him meeting Montgomery in North Africa. I look forward to sharing my results with others & thank you for a great free project as pay sites are prohibitively expensive.
