• According to Louise Donaldson, Margarethe was a Music teacher after arrival in the US, but census shows it was her sister Augusta who taught Music/piano.

Margarethe was first a Servant and later a Private Nurse, according to census. The fact that her sister was a music and piano teacher does not preclude Margarethe from also having musical training and also teaching at some point. The sisters were both educated and able to read write and speak english.

Considering the known facts, the girls were educated in the common fashion of the 1860s/1870s, for middle to upper middle class girl children, possibly by a governess and music lessons.
