According to Frederick Allan Lange he was a MP for Kimberley & Director of De Beers.

This together with other information & the fact that his children match my grandfather's siblings; also his siblings, (in particular Judge Sir Johannes Henricus Lange in Kimberley), would appear to endorse what I was told about him being great friends with Cecil John Rhodes.

I was told that Rhodes verbally bequeathed his Muizenberg cottage to my great grandfather, but as it wasn't in the written will, we never inherited the property.
