Biography
Je Caroline was born in 1842, the daughter of J. Fried. Gottlieb Lange and Anna Rosine (Jaeschke) - refer to Biographical Index of South Australians[1]
Caroline Lange married Ernest Gottlieb Reinhold Simon on 22 March 1861 in the residence of Mr Gottwalt near Greenock, South Australia. Ernest was 27 years old, the son of Gottlieb Carl Simon. Caroline was 18 years old, the daughter of Gottlieb Lange.[2][3]
Their children were born in Victoria: Augustine Adolph (1869-), Allwane Amelia (1871-), Anna (1874-), Amelia Francisca (1876-), Matilda Clara (1878-), Reinhold Albert (1880-), Theodore Waldemar (1884-)
She passed away in 1921 aged 79 years[4][5]
Obituary: Wodonga and Towong Sentinel (Vic. : 1885 - 1954) Fri 19 Aug 1921 - OBITUARY MRS. C. SIMON. A very old resident of Barunduda in the person of Mrs. Caroline Simon, died on Monday last at the residence of her son-in-law (Mr. A. W. Bartel) at the age of 79 years. The deceased lady who came from Woodside (S.A.), when quite a young woman, settled in this district, where she resided ever since. For some considerable time past the late Mrs. Simon lived with her daughter, Mrs. A W. Bartel, Four sons and five daughters are left to mourn their loss. The burial took place at Wodonga on Wednesday last.[6]
