When Herman Friedrich Lange was born on 17 January 1874 in Vegesack, Bremen, Germany, his father, Johann, was 30 and his mother, Gesine, was 28. He had one son and one daughter with Marie Margarethe Adelheid Wendt between 1899 and 1901. He died as a young father on 12 January 1904 in Okahandja, Otjozondjupa, Namibia, at the age of 29 in the Herero Uprising, and was buried in Gobabis, Omaheke, Namibia.
[2] Soap, Figure 35 showed a large burning building as well as disproportionately‐sized and shadowy natives lurking nearby. The German victim above the scene was a Farmer Lange, and the card simply stated that the Herero murdered him.
