Biography

Friedrich Wilhelm John Lange was born in 1 June 1874 in Germany. He was the son of Michael Lange and Constance Borzymski.

Michael and Constance came to the United States in 1876 with their children: Wilhelmine (age 3), Fred (age 2), and Mary (age 3 months). Later 10 more children were added to the family. From Chicago the family came to Freedom Township in Sauk County, and later to Excelsior township.[1]

1880 Census Michael Lange (age 34) and his wife Constance (age 28, spelled Constanc) are living in Freedom, Sauk, Wisconsin with their children: Minnie (age 7), Fred (age 6), Mary (age 4), Emil (age 2; mispelled Ameal), and Oscar (age 1/12). Emil and Oscar were born in Wisconsin. All the others were born in Germany. Michael is a laborer.[2]

Fred J Lange married Emma Marie Meyer 14 Apr 1895.[3]

10 June 1918 - Naturalization papers[4]

12 Sep 1918 Fred John Lange (age 45) registered for the WWI draft in Baraboo, Sauk, Wisconsin. He was born 1 June 1873 in Germany. Occupation: Mason; He was Tall, with a medium build, blue eyes, hair color-Illegible; He was a declared alien. Contact: Mrs Fred Lange.[5]


Fred passed away 5 Dec 1948 at age 74 in Ashland, Wisconsin and is buried in Saint Peter Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Reedsburg, Wisconsin.[6]
