Your Co-Leader for the Mighty Oaks

Thanks for the advice Janet, however I find this site incredibly frustrating to use and may not bother going any further with my family tree.

Sorry, should read :births of Robert Smith in Chester le Street; 1st Q 1870, 3rd Q 1871(two), 1st Q 1872 and 4th Q 1872.

Hello Janet I am reaching out to you as I need some one to discuss a couple of profiles from GEDCOM Under Review list. I am started working on Robert Smith-65442. (I know...Smith? foolish). There were 4 census records in the original profile. I used them to add his father and several siblings. Here is the major snag. 1871 Census indicates his age as 1/12 (a month) old. Since the 1871 Census was done 2 April , he was born in the first quarter of 1871. The other 3 censuses (1881, 1891, 1901) indicated the birth year as 1870. There is a second Robert Smith-65450 listed as a sibling, I put in a request to merge. Mind you, I have mucked around with both profiles. In the FreeBMD I located the following births of Robert Smith in Chester le Street; 1st Q 1870, 3rd Q (two), 1st Q 1872 and 4th Q 1872. I, also, located 2 deaths of Robert Smith in Chester le Street age 0 in the 3rd and 4th Q's of 1871. These sources are in the Research Notes of Smith-65442. I really hope you can help me clean up this mess! Thanks Elaine Walling-681
I will take a look and get back to you to discuss

I went to GRO and added that source. That 1871 census is wrong. I wonder if the mom told the census taker he was "a year and a month" and only the month was written down. Appreciate your time.
Thank you soooo much. A whole new world to learn!
Hi Janet, thank you for checking in with me. Take me a little while to get the swing of using WikiTree.

Cheers Vicky

Thank you for the tip, I will definitely do that at some point. Right now, I'm trying to place about 10,000 people from a lineage that I've been working on since 1978. Luckily, some lines all I have to do is connect into a couple of people and the rest is there (whew!). As I place them I'm putting the bare minimum in sources and then I'm going back and adding everything with a biography. I haven't code HTML in years, so it's taking a bit. Plus, I didn't' realize how much material I have from hard copy, not digital. I have to go through my files and get that all in order. But I think it's going to be well worth it. I've already suggested this site to a couple of people who are working to solve a couple of brick walls with me. I'm hoping they join. Thanks again!!! Debbie
Hi Janet, thank you very much for acknowledging my involvement with the Data Doctor's project. Your words mean a lot and is always welcome not only to me but the our community. Thanks again.

Hello Janet, you've helped me in the past when I was first starting out here, and now I need to know who if anyone is in charge of the Cherry Mine Disaster: Space:Cherry_(Illinois)_Mine_Disaster ? I want to REMOVE (to begin with) 4 profiles that are using the wrong last name from the mine or the state records! Look for KOMETZ on that list; it's not how the family spells their name! I have already created for John and his 3 children, John, Mary and Susan, this should be very easy: Remove all 4 of the existing Kometz-1, -2, -3 and -4 (they are the only ones), and provide a link to my page: Kmetz-54 (on which I've already placed his children); I was careful to have already added the special Category code. Thank you, Daniel (Sedory-1).
