Lilian was born in 1888[1] in Selby, Yorkshire, England, where she lived with her parents, Henry Langstaff and Sarah Coggrave, in 1891.[2] The family had moved to Rawmarsh, Yorkshire, by 1901[3] and to Rotherham by 1911.[4]
