Biography

Mary E Langston was enumerated at Franklin County, Georgia for the August 18, United States Census, 1850. She was noted as born 1847 in Georgia as seen in this image of the original census. Also included in the household are male Thomas J Langston, female Elizabeth Langston, male Reuben B Langston, male William F Langston, female Nancy W Langston and female Sarah J Langston.[1]

June 13, 1860 - Carnesville, Franklin County, Georgia

Mary E Means was enumerated at Nail's Creek, Wilmot's District 1206, Banks County, Georgia for the July 27, United States Census, 1870. She is noted as born 1846-1847 in Georgia and keeping house as seen in this image of the original census. Also included in the household are male John S Means, female Allas M Means, male Hugh Means, male Thomas B Means and female Sarah Gober.[2]

Mary E Means was enumerated as wife at District 1206, Banks County, Georgia for the June 22, United States Census, 1880. She was noted as housekeeping, born 1850 in Georgia and married as seen in this image of the original census. Also included in the household are self John S Means, daughter Alice M Means, son Hugh Means, son Thomas B Means, son Joseph B Means, daughter Frances E Means, son Brother Means, daughter Maranda E Means and daughter Clara B Means.[3]

Mary E Means was enumerated as head of the household in Militia District 812, Strange, Franklin County, Georgia for the June 6, United States Census, 1900. She was noted as a farmer and born February 1847 in Georgia. She was widowed and an owner. Also included in the household are son Arthur G Means and daughter Nettie L Means as seen in an image of the original census.[4]

Mary E Means was enumerated as mother of the head of household at Toccoa Road, Stranges District 812, Franklin County, Georgia for the May 5, United States Census, 1910. She was noted as born 1845 in Georgia and widowed. She was the mother of eleven children of which nine were still living as seen in the image of the original census. Also included in the household are head Arthur G Means, sister Nettie L Means and servant Andy Wadkins.[5]

Mary E Means was enumerated as head of the household at Stranges, Franklin County, Georgia for the January 12, United States Census, 1920. She was noted as born 1848 in Georgia and widowed. She was an owner as seen in the image of the original census. Also included in the household is son Arthur G Means.[6]

Mary Elizabeth Langston was listed as the mother of Nettie Means Allen who died January 11, 1964 in High Point, Guilford County, North Carolina. The father was listed as John Stuart Means and the husband James Daniel Allen, Sr.[7]

As listed in the Find A Grave Index,[8] Mary E. Langston Means is buried at Mount Zion Methodist Cemetery in Franklin County, Georgia.[9]
