Samuel was born in 1828. He was the son of Abel Langworthy and Nancy Simpson.
He married 20 Nov 1849 Nancy M. Bingham, w/children.
He served during the Civil War, enlisted 21 Nov 1861 in the 18th Regt. Kentucky Infantry for three years. He reenlisted 5 Jan 1864 and was honorably discharged as a corporal, 18 Jul 1865 near Louisville, Kentucky.
He passed away in 1906.
