"Haines Hargrett Lanier, was born in Tifton the son of Mrs. Tiffie Lanier Herrington. He enlisted at Camp Blanding, Fl. and had lived at Jacksonville, Fl. He was a member of Berea Baptist Church there. He was divorced, but had dependents. He had been overseas about 7 months, when he was killed in action with the infantry in Italy. He was survived by a daughter, Tilona Ruth Lanier of Jacksonville, brothers Emory W, Robert E, Benny L, two aunts: Mrs. J. R. Swain and Mrs. Lula Oliver of Tifton and a number of cousins."
