Hampton was born in 1842. He is the son of Cornelius Lansing and his wife Deborah W.[1]
Hampton's wife was Kate E. Free. Their children were:
Grace V. Lansing (1868 - 1877)
Leonard J. Lansing (1870 - 1879)
Clara V. Lansing KIng (1871-1953)
Amos F. Lansing (1873 - 1877)[2]Only Clara lived to be an adult.
Hampton served in the civil War and obtained the rank of a corporal. He was in Company F, 3rd Regiment, New York Infantry serving for the Union Army.[3]
He died in 1882 and was buried in the Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands, Albany, New York.[4]
