This appears to be the family in Append A pg 431 in Laphams in America: "Lapham Family originates in France. The first Laphams of this branch originated in France and came to Quebec, Canada with the British Army, and later to Plattsburgh, N. Y., in 1814. With the same army and took part in the Battle of Plattsburgh. He married and made his home on Grand Isle, near Plattsburgh.
