Biography

Marie Lapierre was born about 1733. She was the daughter of Michel Lapierre and Madeleine Caissy. She was baptized 18 Sep 1733 at Beaubassin. No date of birth was recorded. Her godparents were Francois Lapierre and Marie Quiessy.[1][2]

Marie Lapierre and Michel Poirier married sometime before 1752 in Acadie.

Known children of this marriage: [3]
  1. Michel Poirier, 1750-1757
  2. Marie Modeste Poirier, 1755

Joseph Fleury, son of Jean Baptiste Fleury and Marie Francoise Lamirande, and Marie Lapierre, widow of Michel Poirier and daughter of Michel Lapierre and Magdeleine Quesey of the parish of Saint-Louis of Beausejour in L'Acadie, were married 13 Oct 1760 in the parish of Saint-Joseph, Maskinongé, Canada, Nouvelle-France. [4]

Known children of this marriage: [5]
  1. Marie Helene Fleury, 1762
  2. Marie Rose Fleury, c 1763
  3. Joseph Fleury, about 1765
  4. Josephte Marie Fleury, 1765 (see Research Notes)
  5. Alexis Fleury, c 1766-1786
  6. Marie Euphrosine Fleury, 1768-1769
  7. Jean Baptiste Thomas (Jean), 1770-1770
  8. Marie Genevieve Fleury, 1774

Marie Lapierre, wife of Joseph Fleury and with a given age of about seventy-seven or seventy-eight years, died 3 Mar 1809 and was buried the following day in the cemetery of Saint-Joseph, Maskinongé, Bas-Canada. [6]

Research Notes

Josephte Marie looks to be their son Joseph Marie. The original baptismal record is missing from Family Search’s Collection of Québec Catholic Parish Registers. A transcribed copy of the original reads Josephte Marie, however, PRDH lists this birth for a male child, Joseph Marie Fleury. [7] There are no other records for Josephte Marie; and Joseph Marie, who is otherwise missing a baptismal record, has a bio consistent with a birth of 1765.

Lapierre-531 and Lapierre-238 appear to represent the same person because: Only Joseph Fleury and Marie Lapierre married in 1760 Maskinongé. Correct marriage date 13 Oct 1760 per marriage record.
