Pierre-Simon (Laplace) de Laplace is Notable.

Pierre-Simon, Marquis de Laplace was a French scholar who made important contributions in the development of mathematics, statistics, physics, and astronomy.

Laplace is remembered as one of the greatest scientists of all time. He is sometimes referred to as French Newton or Newton of France.

He was born in Beaumont-en-Auge a commune in the Calvados department on March 23, 1749, he was baptized on March 25. He was the son of Pierre de Laplace and Marie Anne Sochon[1].

When he was thirty-nine years old Pierre-Simon married Marie Anne Charlotte de Courty de Romange in Paris on May 15, 1788[2].

The couple had two children, a son Charles Émile Pierre Joseph de Laplace born in Paris on April 5, 1789[3] and a daughter Sophie Suzanne de Laplace born on April 15, 1792[4].

Their daughter Sophie Suzanne passed away in Paris on September 22, 1813[5].

Pierre-Simon passed away in Paris on March 5, 1827[6], he was originally buried at Cimetière du Père-Lachaise in Paris but in 1888 his son requested that his remains be moved to Saint-Julien-de-Mailloc and reinterred on the family estate alongside his wife and daughter's graves[7].
