Biography

Origins

William Jervice Large and Phebe Lee have been detached as parents. There is no documentation of them as his parents. See Anderson cited below for discussion of his unknown origins.

Caution: Anderson Immigrants to New England 1634-35 Vol IV:237-238 [1]states William Large was deceased by 1637 and left no children. That he had two male offspring appears to be incorrect information introduced by Savage and is covered by Anderson. Anderson also states the origins of William Large are unknown.

William Large and his wife, "coming out of the town of Hingham and towns adjacent in the county of Norfolk," settled at New Hingham in 1635.[2][1] William Large is known to be living in July 1636 but soon after his wife is referred to as the Widow Large as well as being called the Widow Large in records from March 1641.[1] He is presumed to have died at Hingham as Anderson cites no records of his having lived elsewhere.

Children

There are no known children of William Large. The introduction of children appears to originate with errors in Savage.

Large-556 and Large-25 appear to represent the same person because: These profiles represent the same person. The Large-556 profile contains a great deal of misinformation: the parents are unknown and need to be detached. He died in 1637 without offspring. These errors originate with Savage and are discussed by Anderson. There is only one wife who is an Unknown Unknown and is found in this profile https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Unknown-498168

This profile is a duplicate of https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Large-25 whose parentage is unknown per Robert Anderson and who died 1637 without offspring. The parents and offspring here are the result of errors discussed below. These connections need to be severed and then the profile merged with Large-25 with stronger notices posted upstream and downstream so duplicates and erroneous connections are not reestablished.

Detached him as father of Joseph Large. Profile of Joseph being PPP under Quakers to prevent reattachement. See notes above and on Large-25 for discussion of documentation.

Read page by page up to year 1639 in the Hingham parish register available on ancestry.com - do not see baptism, marriage for anyone surname Large.

The links to ancestry / images sourcing cited no longer are active.

Deb below is correct. The profile should be co-managed by PGM and the errors corrected.

"The Great Migration" states there is no evidence that William fathered any children but instead died in 1636, based on the fact that records show land was given to his widow in 1637.

Large-25 and Large-392 appear to represent the same person because: Is it possible these match?

Large-25 and Large-368 appear to represent the same person because: as indicated in Large-25. the birth date has a range and the death place is undocumented, and therefore uncertain whether it is New Jersey or Pennsylvania. Please merge

Large-292 and Large-25 appear to represent the same person because: with so little data on Large-292, but the birth is identical, seems like they could be duplicates

Large-176 and Large-25 appear to represent the same person because: same parents, both profiles indicate that the birth is somewhere between 1610 and 1630
