Thomas' father died in 1885, aged 60; his death was registered in the first quarter of the year, in Prescot district.

Thomas married Louisa. No marriage record has been found so far.

By April 5th 1891, Thomas and Louisa were living in Kendal Street, Wigan with Thomas' brother William and his family. William was working as a coal miner. His daughter Dora (previously Dorothy), aged fourteen, was working as a tailoress.
