Levi Lewis Larkin was born in the third quarter of 1840 in Beckley, Sussex, England to William Larkin and Martha Furner.[1] He was baptised on 4 Oct 1840 at All Saints church in Beckley.[2]

He lived with his parents in Beckley until his marriage, working as an agricultural labourer when he was old enough.[3] [4] (Note: His family is listed as 'Jackin' not 'Larkin' on FindMyPast. Ancestry is pointing to the wrong image.)

Levi married Hannah Eliza Milgate on 22 Oct 1870 at All Saints church in Beckley.[5] [6] [7] They had four children:

In 1871, they were living in Beckley while Levi continued working as an agricultural labourer.[8]

After 1878, they decided to emigrate. They left Plymouth, England on 15 Feb 1879 on the steamship Stad-Haarlem bound for Otago, New Zealand.[9] By 1880, they were living in Caversham, Otago where they remained until about 1900.[10] [11] [12] [13]

By 1908, they had moved to Hyde, Otago.[14]

Levi Lewis Larkin died on 19 Jun 1910 in Hyde.[15]

The notice in the paper at the time reads:
LARKIN.--On June 19, at his daughter's residence, Hyde (suddenly), Levi Lewis (Tom), dearly beloved husband of Hannah Eliza Larkin; in his 70th year. ... Deeply regretted.

He was buried in the Hyde cemetery, Hyde.[17] Levi was 69 years old.
