Hi Frances,

It’s time for our annual Ireland Project check-in! Please respond within the next two weeks to let me know:

If you are happy with the team you’re on or if you’d like to make a change. It is now required that all members with an Ireland project badge work on at least one of the project’s team(s), so if you’ve not yet signed up please do so in your reply to this check-in.

  • What you think the project is doing well, and what (if any) changes you would like to see us make? Are there any teams you would like to become more active in?
  • Would you be interested in helping to work on an Ireland Project newsletter?
  • Please give us some feedback on the use of google group and discord. Do you use one or both of these? If you don’t use either of them, what is the best way for us to ensure you receive project communications? If you would like to join us on either one, just let us know in your response and we will get you signed up.

Please respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message on WikiTree. If we don’t hear from you within two weeks, we will assume you are no longer interested in participating in the Ireland Project, and your badge will be removed. If you wish to reapply for membership later, we will be happy to have you back. Many thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,

Jen Hutton, on behalf of the Ireland Project

Hi Frances,

The Ireland Project (previously the Irish Roots Project) has now changed its structure into Teams. We require everyone with the Ireland Badge to be a member of at least one Team or Sub-Team and our google group. See https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Ireland for details. The Teams are :-

1. Categories Team
2. Counties Team
3. Managed Profiles Team
4. Membership Team
5. Profile Improvement Team
6. Topics Team
7. Diaspora

? Can you let me know if you’d like to stay on in the new project and which team(s) you’d like to join. Please also let me know your e-mail address so that I can get you added to the project’s Google Group or confirm you are already a member of the google group.

Many thanks,

Maria

Congratulations!

We've made a change in how the tutorials are sent to new members. Instead of weekly messages you can now work at your own pace, so this is the last message.

How is it going so far? Have the How-Tos been helpful or left you with questions?

We want to help! Click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page.

Cindy ~ WikiMessenger

PS Sometimes links don't work in emails. You can always find a link that works in the public comments on your profile.

Frances --

You've been here for several weeks now! We hope your profiles are starting to come together and that you've enjoyed getting to know all of us a little better.

You're probably getting a good feel for the collaborative nature of WikiTree by now. We know that collaboration isn't always easy. So, we've put together a few pointers that can make working in this type of environment a little easier: How to be a Successful WikiTreer.

As always, your questions are welcome!

Hi Frances

It's time for your next stop on the guided tour. This week, we'd like to show you How to Join in the Community. Plenty of opportunities to get involved through social media, our forum, and projects.

Be sure to check out the One Name Studies Project to see if anyone has started a project for one of the surnames in your family. Don't see one? Follow the instructions for starting your own!I

For your family research you might like to explore active projects to find a project to aid your research. United Kingdom Project has links to Irish_Roots & there is a Sweden Project

Please let me know if you have questions. :-)

Frances

You've been here a week now, and we hope you enjoyed your first stop on your guided tour of WikiTree and were able to make good use of the things you learned.

Our next stop will give you some pointers on how to make your profiles stand out: How to Edit a Profile.

As always, your questions are welcome! If the above link does not work from your email, please go to your profile in the public comments and it will work from there.

Thanks, WikiMessenger Cindy

PS-Good work so far! Have you noticed on ancestor profiles on bottom right is "Research" where you can get sources and more information? Give it a try!

Hi Frances welcome to WikiTree and thanks for your message on G2G.

I’ve added the Irish Roots Project badge to your profile. If you click on the badge it will take you to the full list of our wonderful members. Click on Irish Roots Project will take you to the first page of the project. I've added your good self to the member interest page. Here you can let others know which counties or names you are researching etc.

Thanks for joining the project and good luck with your research. Maria

Hi Frances, Welcome to Wikitree.

I noticed you are researching Larmon's in Kildare. I am researching the surname Folliard/Follard/Fullard in Kildare and surrounding counties. I have a Mary Folliard who m. Michael Seery. Their daughter Agnes married Christopher Larmon (I haven't added these yet on my Wikitree Folliard name study). If you are a descendant or know of any descendants I would love to compare DNA at Gedmatch. My ggg grandfather was named William Fullard when he married in Clane, Kildare in 1839. [1] Thanks and best wishes for your research.

Frances --

You are now a confirmed member, and you can get started adding your family members. As we've said, WikiTree is quite different from other genealogy sites. So, we've put together a guided tour to help you learn how to use it. Your first stop is How to Start Climbing Our Tree.

Tomorrow, you'll hear from a Mentor who will check in to see how you're doing and answer any questions you might have.

Next week, you'll get another message with your next stop on the guided tour.

You can also meet some of our members by joining in the fun with our Question of the Week in the G2G forum: [https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/360737

Are you related to a Magna Carta Surety Baron?]

Welcome!

Hi Frances!

Welcome to WikiTree! Be sure to take a look at the link in the email you just got. It has important information to help you get started. :-)

WikiTree is different than other genealogy websites because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we share ancestors and work together as a BIG collaborative team! And it is completely FREE!

If you are interested in sharing your research and want to collaborate to add your family, first confirm your email address. Then please fill out the Tags on your profile page and click Save Tags and Volunteer.

Once you volunteer, one of our Greeters will confirm your membership, and you'll be able to add your family to the tree!

Thanks, Cindy
