Biography

Johannes Laurenson, son of Johannes and Mary Laurenson, born about 1649 and died November 30, 1693. In his will Mary received one-third of his posessions, Mary, his daughter, received the remaining two-thirds, and Samuel Cooper was named his daughter's guardian. [1]

His father had emigrated to America before 1663 and, as often happened, John signed his name as John and Laurenson was changed to Larrison. He married (1) Abigail Unknown about 1666, (2) Jemima Woodhull Halsey, widow of Daniel Halsey, May 22 1683,[2] had no children and (3) Mary Herrick Howell, daughter of James Herrick and Martha Topping Herrick-Phillips and Mary, widow of David Howell,December 20 1686 .[3][4]

John and Abigail were the parents of: [5]

  • 1. Amy b. ~1669 m Daniel Halsey, d Feb 18 1734
  • 2. William b 1672/3 m Ann Panshuns

John and Mary were the parents of:

  • 3. Mary b. ~1687

Research Note

My effort is to bring together all of the different spellings of the surname into this profile and then continue with the American spelling --Larrison found in William Larrison, his son's will dated 1749.

A transcription of a court record listed between others from February 1679/1680, but not dated itself, has a deposition of Johannis Lorison, aged about 29 years.[6] From this would be inferred a birth year around 1650.

Larrison-100 and Larison-11 appear to represent the same person because: The wives differ--His first was Abigail, then Jemima then Mary. See source on Larrison-100. Birth--certain date is unknown.
