Stina was born in 1814[1] as the second daughter (and child) of Lars Svensson and Elin Andersdotter in Tolarp[2] (although he also had older daughters from his first marriage with Stina Svensdotter). She stayed in Tolarp her entire life,[3][4][5][6] in 1837 marrying Johannes Svensson[7] who later took over the farm from her father. They had five children, of which three survived into adulthood: Gustaf (b 1838), Charlotta (b 1843, died two days old), Johan (b 1845, died the same day), Anna Cajsa (b 1846) and Claes (born 1851). Stina passed away from edema (vattusot) in 1853.[8]
