Biography

Ellen Mae Larsen was born on November 17, 1890, in Rock Creek, Idaho, to Maren Sofie "Mary" Jensen, age 24, and Hans Peter Larsen, age 28. She was their second child, but her brother, Warren (1888–1889), died shortly after he was born.

She married Walter William Brose on December 5, 1917, in Twin Falls, Idaho. ^[1] They had three children during their marriage. In 1920, Ellen and her husband and two daughters were living at 10th Ave East in Twin Falls in a two bedroom newly built house. Walter listed his occupation as farmer and they owned their house. ^[2] In the 1930 census, they were living in the same house and had added a third daughter to their family. Ellen was working as an elementary school teacher and William's occupation is not listed. ^[3] They survived the depression without mortgaging their house and in 1940 they were all living in the same house and their daughters were unmarried. ^[4]

Walter died in 1943 from a cerebral hemorrhage. Apparently Ellen never remarried. She died on August 25, 1983, in Twin Falls, Idaho, at the age of 92, and was buried there in the Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. ^[5]
