The daughter of 'William Larzelere (1793-1875) and Mahala Burroughs' (1795-1853), Ann was born in Seneca County, New York in 1828. Her siblings included:

  1. Granger Larzelere (1831-)
  2. Reuben Larzelere (1834-)
  3. William Larzelere (1836-)
  4. David Woodward (1830-) (Caroline's husband) also is listed in the household.

Ann Caroline is listed as "Caroline Woodward" in the same household with William and Mahala. Nowhere is the name "Ann" mentioned in this census record.

William, Granger and David were employed as merchants, whereas Reuben was a laborer.

Granger, Reuben, William, David, and Caroline all were born in New York State, USA.

Ann Caroline's family migrated west to the Michigan Territory, settling in Grass Lake, in Lenawee County. She married David Woodward in Clinton, Michigan on November 17, 1847, and they lived initially with her parents.[1]

Ann and David had one son together, William Woodard (1858-1860). She died in Bridgewater, Michigan on December 7, 1858, a week after giving birth to William. She is believed to have been buried in Washtenaw County but the grave has not been located. A Find-A-Grave cenotaph was erected in her memory.[2]

Research Notes

The name "Woodward" is somewhat illegible in the census record, with only a few of the letters being handwritten clearly enough for positive identification.
