Biographie

Fille de François Brunel de la Sablonnière et Agathe Quintal

Biography

Agathe Lasablonière was born to François Brunet and Agathe Quintal. She was their second child and first daughter of an eventual seven children, but four of her younger siblings, a brother and three sisters would die as infants. The remaining three children lived to adults and all married.

Agathe Lasablonière had three marriages:

On Nov. 11, 1754 she married Jean Baptiste Gazaille dit St-Germain. They had 14 children, but had suffered the terrible loss of eight infant deaths. Jean Baptiste died Nov. 11, 1790 at Contrecoeur and was buried two days later.

About two years later, on Nov. 12, 1792 she married François Cadieux at Contrecoeur. They had less than two years together as he died On Aug. 23, 1794 and was buried the next day at Varennes. There were no known children.

For her third marriage, Agathe Lasablonière dite Brunel, married the widower, Hyacinthe Gendron on November 13, 1797 at Contrecoeur. He had previously been married to Marie Angelique Labossiere and had 13 children with her; five girls and eight boys, but sadly, they had six children die young or as infants. At least six of the other children lived to adults and they all married. Marie Labossiere had died January 05, 1795 at Contrecoeur. Agathe and Hyacinthe had no known children.

Hyacinthe died Sept. 9, 1804 at Contrecoeur and was buried the next day. Agathe died at Contrecoeur on March 16, 1812 and was buried the next day. She had been married for a total of almost 47 years combined with her three husbands and then still outlived her last by another seven and one half years. She was about 74 ½ years old when she died and had only been 17 at her first marriage.
