Biography

Maria Laskarina was one of the three daughters of Emperor Theodoros Lascaris and his first wife Anna Komnene Angelina. She married Béla of Hungary in 1218[1] and became Queen of Hungary in 1235 when her husband succeeded as Béla IV.

Maria Laskarina died on 16 or 24 July 1270 (IX Kal Aug) and was buried in Esztergom[1].

The birthplace would not have been Turkey, since it did not exist then. Nicea was a part of the Byzantine Empire, but shortly after Constantinople had been sacked by Crusaders, and the Byzantines moved to this place, but then later regained it.
This profile had the wrong Anna Komnene attached as mother, Komnene-3. This is now corrected.
