Maxwell was born in 1946. He was the son of Gordon Laskowski and Mabel Bartel who were farmers. Max lived on the farm until 1969 when the family moved to Drake. He attended Drake School, Lanigan High School and Bible School at Swift Current. He married and they farmed for ten years at Drake before moving to Saskatoon in 1977. He worked for Prairie Harvestore and later bought his own small business. Max and his wife had three children. Max passed away in February 1994 and was buried in North Star Mennonite Cemetery near Drake.
